Bell Bottoms and bedroom Eyes

The word 'undergraduate' seems rightfully accurate--these undergraduate years are so underrated!
The cognizance of this fact hath made me commit acts of the socially deviant kind:
I decided to ornament half my limbs with the most ridiculous/fan freakin' tastic/groovy/happiness-inducing floral bell bottoms.

The two best accompaniments? A velvet blazer and a pompous, hip-jutting demeanor, of course.

The pants also serve as a means of protection against dangerous suburban terrain.

The unveiling (pun not intended, for once) of lethargy or sexy bedroom eyes? You decide.

who what wear?
  • velvet blazer: < $3, F as in Frank vintage sale
  • floral fab-freakin'-tastic pants: Urban Outfitters, $10
  • gold metallic, zebra-print scarf: H&M, $5

An Aggregation of Thoughts. Duh.

Sigh. Always got me blushing. Makes my heart skip faster than models who do just that with breakfast. Smart, has a sense of humour, kind to me--by golly, PERFECT. Match made in heaven.
We are simply compatible.
We've got history, and you best believe it, chemistry too!

I am in love with vintage/thrift shopping and it is apparent these feelings are mutual.
How else must I have stumbled upon some tasty, mouth-watering finds these past few weeks?

Any apprehensions about living in a capitalist society are annihilated when it comes to that point in my life where I undergo a little retail therapy. Perhaps a little visual stimulation is needed to thaw the hearts of you stone-cold fellers who scoff at such a proposition. Behold: Stuff I Bought Recently.

Look for them in future outfit posts--a little "I Spy With My Little Eye" never hurt a soul.

p.s.  I am planning my life, or whatever, and I hand the responsibility over to YOU, dear blogosphere. Can y'all help me choose 2 out of 5 of these potential majors: sociology, political science, anthropology, international relations and psychology. Comments/suggestions/opinions/
insults greatly welcomed. They all interest me and I can't make up mind!

p.p.s. My journalism prof, Alfred Hermida, former BBC correspondent, conducted an interview with Gadaffi back in 1995! Here is the tyrant in his flamboyantly-dressed and still-ugly-back-then-dictator-y self.

BBC 1995 report on Libya from Alfred Hermida on Vimeo.
Here's the corresponding article: CLICK! Gaddafi was even crazy 16 years ago!

p.p.p.s. This song has been on repeat all week.

CONFESSIONS OF A LOOPY 18-AND-ALMOST-A-HALF-YEAR-OLD

My writing's too creative for news journalism.
My writing's not creative enough for creative writing.
My writing is too verbose (read: wordy) for public speaking competitions.
My verbose writing is overlooked during the interlude known as the assessment of academic papers.

Is this what a quarter-life crisis feels like?

>> But I still love words. <3333

You know what my long-lost dream has been, blogosphere? To partake in a spelling bee. I have never had the privilege of doing so. I reckon it would be amazing and so my forte.

p.s. My sparse blogging has probably resulted in me losing followers left and right. Please don't go! Please don't leave me! I can change! I can implement a strict blogging schedule that will be as natural as my circadian rhythm! Baby come back! You can blame it all on meeeeeee!

Dramatic and pathetic monologues aside, I'm serious. Don't go. Why would you? I have a giveaway coming up. *smiles incredulously at the thought of having coerced her readers into continuing reading l'il 'ol UUU*

Pathological Liar! Oh calm down; this is such a foofaraw.

You guys! I lied. I'm a liar! I said I was very happy about graduating. But I'm not. I'm happy! But not very.
It's because I watched a few videos of my friends and I over the past 3 years, and it was all sort of very sentimental and "ohhhh" and "omg, good times" and "wow, we had a lot of fun alhmd." That sort of thing. And my friends and I are 'sort of' splitting up...so I'm obvs. going to be melancholic about that.
Other than that, I can hardly wait to be done!

**smooth transition to a new topic**

Alright, so...this sums up my...wants and gets?:
Oh, I'm so dramatic! Also, today was a pretty chiiiill day.

When you suffer from procrastination, and have a severe, progressively worsening case of Senioritis, this is what you do:

DRAMATIC EYE + NEUTRAL LIP
BEFORE:                                                                                                                                     AFTER:

DRAMATIC LIP + NEUTRAL EYE a.k.a. clown[ish]
BEFORE:                                                                                                                                     AFTER:

This one turned out to be my fave, however.
I'm such a dweeb. If you would also like to be a dweeb, go HERE!

ALSO, SOME FANTABULOUS NEWS FOR FELLOW MUSLIM FEMALE BLOGGERS!
The equally fantabulous people from 'sisterswhoblog magazine' will be handing out awards. But they need your help on the protocol of it all! Go to http://swbmagazine.blogspot.com/2010/06/2010-blog-award.html#comments to offer your advice and get in all the action! Such a cool idea, hey?
Finally, I think this is totally worth reading. Her whole blog is totally worth reading. It's www.sliceoflemon.com, y'all! This post is especially inspiring: http://sliceoflemon.com/2010/06/04/the-journey-within-part-8/.
